Electronic and Information Engineering

Introduction

The department of electronic and information engineering of Yunnan university was derived from the major of wireless electronics which was founded in 1956. We have highly competitive faculties and well-founded facilities. During the past decades, high quality teams for undergraduate teaching and academic research have been established in our department. Various awards have been obtained for teaching and research. There are 14 faculties in the department, including 4 professors and 5 associate professors. 10 faculties hold doctoral degrees. 3 professors are granted as PHD advisors. The research fields for doctoral students involve adaptive signal processing and intelligent systems, biomedical signal processing, information transmission theory and application. The research fields for master students involve communication and information systems, signal analysis and process, biomedical engineering, pattern recognition and intelligent control, detection technology and automation devices.

Our undergraduate students have won many prizes in university students’ modeling contests of mathematics in both China and the U.S. Graduates from our department are competitive on job markets and are favorably hired by various employers.

Major: Electronic Information Engineering

Technologies in electronic and information engineering are applied almost everywhere in our daily lives and fast-growing industries, such as smart phones, computers, audio-visual entertainment systems, servo-mechanic systems, security and monitoring systems, etc. Based on the sound knowledge and skills of electronics, telecommunication and computer, our graduates are capable of designing, development and manufacture of all kinds of electronic systems for the information acquisition, processing, transmission and controlling, as well as software development for these systems.

The major topics of study include: Circuits Analysis, Analog Electronic Technology, Digital Circuits and Logic Design, Signal and Systems, Digital Signal Processing, Theory and Application of Embedded Systems, Automatic Control Technologies,Design and Application of Programmable Logic Devices, Electronic Measurement, Information Theory and Coding, Sensor Technologies, Electronic Design Automation, etc. Qualified practice experiences can be obtained from the innovation experiment, comprehensive system design and some other group projects.

At the beginning of the second academic year, some outstanding students can be selected to participate in the Engineering Education and Training Program of Excellence. In addition to follow the engineering application oriented course studies, these students will also spend two semesters of internship in industry to enrich their practical experiences.
